Acclaimed D.C. jazz composer, pianist, vocalist and actor Mark G. Meadows has been hailed by JazzTimes for his uncanny ability to fuse “the tradition of jazz with the sounds of today in a very musical and entertaining way.” Along with his sextet, he creates music that blends pop, gospel, R&B, hip hop, funk and jazz with expressive vocals and lyrics rich in meaning. Beloved by audiences and hailed by the D.C. press for his ongoing contributions to the local jazz scene, Meadows received praise for his recent portrayal of Jelly Roll Morton in Signature Theatre’s 2016 production of Jelly’s Last Jam. Meadows performs a lineup of jazz and cabaret standards as well as original compositions. Shenandoah Conservatory Jazz Ensemble opens the evening.
