I composed most of the music on this album In about 20 minutes in may of 2024. After purchasing the surfy bear reverb pedal. I recorded an improvisation to try out this pedal, and this is what resulted. This is my first release in 8 years. Prior to this recording, I had been exploring more free improvisation and free jazz the last few years, playing many performances and gigs with veteran free improvisers, trumpeter Dave Ballou and percussionist Mike Kuhl, who is on this record. I tried to incorporate more freer concepts with tonality and timing around the compositions I improvised. I had never played with this configuration of musicians before, but a performance was offered to me in Baltimore, and I chose these musicians. I felt there was an immediate magic and spiritual connection. This album captures the energy of this group only having played a few times together. The Out of Body Quartet is the outcome.
