Join Grand Performances at 5:30pm for the Brazilian Beat Fundraiser - Brazilian-inspired cocktails and dinner followed by VIP reserved seats to the show! Help raise funds to support Grand Performances summer programming. Cyro Baptista & Beat the Donkey is a traveling circus of fun. The music is propelled by the thumping heartbeat of the two large surdos (Brazilian bass drums). Sprinkle in Baptista's wizardry on percussions - which include whistles, timbales, pots and pans, long plastic tubes whirled by the entire ensemble and other unusual self-made instruments - and what explodes on stage is an energetic, mesmerizing, virtuosic and more than engaging stage show.
